IT Guidelines for Rice Visitors

Rice visitors with laptops, smart (cell) phones, PDAs, and other mobile devices can pick up a wireless Internet connection in many locations across the campus. Agreement to follow the Rice University Appropriate Use of Computer Resources policy is required before access to the Internet through the Rice guest or visitor channel is granted.

Wireless Network

• Connect to "Rice Visitor" if you are using a wireless laptop or other mobile device such as a smart (cell) phone or PDA

Public Computers

• Public access computers are available in Fondren Library.

Computers for Continuing Studies Class Students

• Some Rice computer labs are set up for use by continuing studies classes.
• See your instructor for locations and login instructions
• Contact the Help Desk at 713.348.HELP(4357) or helpdesk@rice.edu  if you experience issues with the computers in these labs.

Personal Computer Assistance

• Rice University does not support guests' computers. 

Temporary Guest Account

• A faculty member may sponsor a temporary guest account for a visiting collaborator.
