Licenses, both free and discounted, are provided by Rice IT for software and hardware for departmental purchases as well as on personal purchases by Rice employees and students.

Purchasing and/or Downloading Software

Before you go online and buy, take a few minutes to review your needs. Some software can be downloaded through Rice's existing licenses. If you have any questions about software for your computer, contact the Help Desk.

Hardware Recommendations

At the request of new Rice parents, IT staff members created a minimum specification (spec) list for a general undergraduate computers. These specs can be utilized by departments, but IT support staff in your building or at the Help Desk can assist you with customized computer specifications that meet the unique needs of your faculty and staff.
