Scenario: I'm a New Undergraduate

First, congratulations on your decision to come to Rice University!

Check out this handout, Campus Computing 101 (.pdf format), which is full of advice for new students on how to prepare your computer for Rice or buy a new one.

 Undergraduate Guide

You can also find Joe ITguy on Facebook  and ask him what kind of computer other students in your field of study chose.

When you arrive in the fall, you'll receive a flash drive that will help you connect your computer to the campus network and teach you about printing on campus. Also, Student Computing Consultants (SCCs) will be around in the colleges to help with setup issues and answer questions.
